1. Another Court Win by Clark Attorney Carlos Negrete
Head "quackbuster", psychiatrist Stephen Barrett, has been causing Alternative Medicine quite a bit of trouble, including Dr. Clark. One of his strategies has been to intimidate exponents of Alternative Medicine with law suits.
For example, the National Council Against Health Fraud (NCAHF), of which Barrett is vice president, is known to file dozens of cases, together with attorney Morse Mehrban, who "considers suicide daily". According to an article in the Los Angeles Daily Journal, Mehrban filed 335 notices with the Attorney General's office in an 8 month period. Psychiatrist Barrett gave up his medical license many years ago. Barrett recently admitted in a court deposition that he only had around 8 patients a year before that, according to health freedom activist Tim Bolen. Frankly, it is probably a good thing for the patients to have been saved from Barrett's kind of "treatment".
NCAHF president Robert Baratz will be questioned about his credentials on July 14-16, according to Tim Bolen (http://www.bolenreport.com/). There are many open questions about his CV upon which he acts as an expert witness in many "health fraud cases".
I tried to find out a couple of years ago whether the company "IMCSI" of which Baratz is president according to his CV, really exists. It was hard to find the company, but when I finally found a number for it and called one Sunday afternoon, Baratz picked up the phone personally. That made me think I reached his home phone number and if IMCSI exists then it is most likely to be a company just on paper. But hopefully such questions will be cleared up in the July hearing.
How ever that may be, the case brought by NCAHF against Dr. Clark exponents and many other actors in Alternative Medicine including celebrity Deepak Chopra, was thrown out of court in April. Barrett was the expert witness in the case. Despite the fact that the ruling was very unambiguous, NCAHF decided to appeal the decision. This is another of a series of lost cases for the self appointed "quackbusters" (see Carlos Negrete's web site above). While up to now Baratz', Barrett's and NCAHF's efforts did not lessen despite lost cases, the current loss could help them make that decision: since it is a so called SLAPP suit NCAHF will have to reimburse the defendant's attorney fees, which after the appeal is of course quite costly.

4. Methanol Toxicity in Aspartame
Dr. Clark has been discussing the importance of methanol toxicity for diabetes. Dr. Clark has found methanol in artificial sweeteners. This is why she advises against them in general, and especially for diabetics.
Some research on my part has shown that Aspartame methanol toxicity is a well known fact and has been pointed out by many health web sites. The Website www.ethicalinvesting.com calls Monsanto the "World's Most Unethical and Harmful Investment". It seems that Aspartame is not only linked to diabetes, but to many other conditions as well, including seizures. Some suggest that Aspartame is the reason why cases of diabetes have more than doubled in the last 15 years.
This pro Aspartame web site here says that the American Diabetes Association has stated that "Aspartame has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration, a governmental agency that conducts thorough scientific reviews to determine foods that are safe for public consumption."
